Morocco have made AFCON 2027 qualifying look straightforward so far. Two games, two 2-0 wins, no goals conceded.
Noussair Mazraoui opened the scoring against Gabon in the 36th minute and Soufiane Rahimi made sure of the win six minutes from time, CAF reported. Against Lesotho, Brahim Díaz struck on the stroke of half-time and Azzedine Ounahi added a second in the 82nd minute.
Four goals, four different scorers.
The rest of Group A
Gabon recovered from their loss in Morocco by beating Niger 2-0. Niger had won their opener 2-1 against Lesotho, so both sit on three points, three behind the leaders. Lesotho are still without a point.
Next for Morocco is Niger in November, while Gabon host Lesotho. Qualifying is played over six rounds, home and away, ahead of a 24-team finals in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from 19 June to 17 July 2027.
