African women’s club football is heading back to Egypt. CAF confirmed on 19 October that the country will stage the 2026 Women’s Champions League from 1 to 15 November, its second edition in a row and a return to where the competition began in 2021.
There will be something new to play for, too. CAF unveiled a fresh identity and trophy for the tournament on 20 October, ahead of what it called the sixth edition.
Who is coming
Eight clubs will take part. Morocco has two: defending champions AS FAR and UNAF qualifiers FUS Rabat. They are joined by South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies, Cameroon’s Lekié FF, Mali’s USFAS Bamako, host club FC Masar and a qualifier from WAFU Zone B still to be named.
The draw in Cairo put Masar, Sundowns, FUS Rabat and Lekié in Group A. AS FAR, Kawempe, USFAS and the WAFU B side make up Group B.
Masar open against Sundowns on 1 November, a repeat of their 2024 meeting, which the Egyptians won 1-0. AS FAR begin their defence against Kawempe a day later. The semi-finals are on 11 November and the final on 15 November.
